LinkedIn for psychologists: workplace wellbeing and referral networks
For a psychologist, LinkedIn rarely brings clients directly, but it does bring employer contracts (wellbeing programmes, training) and a network of physicians and professionals who refer. Invite HR and health and safety leads and local physicians, share rigorous educational content and never recruit clients in messages.
Who to invite on LinkedIn: a guide for psychologists
On LinkedIn your client is usually the employer or the referrer, not the patient.
| If you work in… | Invite… | At… |
|---|---|---|
| Workplace wellbeing | HR, people and health and safety directors | Companies with 100+ employees |
| Training | L&D managers | Banking, consulting, tech |
| Referrals | Family physicians, psychiatrists, paediatricians | Private healthcare in your area |
| Partnerships | Medical centres and clinics | Healthcare and wellness |
How to set up your audience in Reachvite
Values for each tab of the extension:
- Industry: Hospitals and Health Care for referrals; your area’s large employers’ industries for wellbeing.
- Job title: HR director, health and safety manager, physician, clinic director.
- Companies: Companies with wellbeing programmes or many employees in your city.
- Where?: Your city if you see clients in person; your country if you work online with employers.
Reachvite always adds its own filters: real people with 500+ connections, and never 1st-degree connections or pending invitations.
How many invitations a week?
One batch of 20 a week, maybe two.
Trust and ethics weigh heavily in this field. Twenty to 40 invitations a week are enough and leave you time to look after your content. LinkedIn doesn’t publish a fixed number: we explain it in the weekly invitation limit.
Example invitation notes
Notes are optional and capped at 300 characters.

- “Hi Dr Ross, I’m a clinical psychologist in Portland and work alongside family physicians. I’d like to have you in my network.”

Your profession’s rules
Your licensing board and professional code (for example the APA Ethics Code in the US) govern advertising, testimonials and confidentiality: check them before posting cases or promoting services.
Frequently asked questions
Is it appropriate to look for clients on LinkedIn?
It’s better suited to employers, training and referrals; directly soliciting clients has ethical limits.
What do I post if I can’t share cases?
Educational content with sources, practical resources and how you work.
Can I invite people in my city only?
Yes. Put your city first under “Where?” and Reachvite starts there.
