LinkedIn for HR professionals: your network as a work tool
If you work in HR, LinkedIn serves three purposes: attracting talent to your company, learning from other people leaders and, if you’re an HR consultant, winning clients. Decide which goal you’re after, invite that audience by job title and industry, and post about what works in your daily work.
Who to invite on LinkedIn: a guide for HR professionals
It depends on your goal: talent, peers or clients.
| If you work in… | Invite… | At… |
|---|---|---|
| Employer brand | The roles your company hires most | Your industry and city |
| Peer network | People, talent and reward directors | Companies of a similar size |
| HR consulting | General managers and HR managers at SMBs | Growing SMBs without a large HR team |
| HR software | Payroll and HR operations leads | Companies with 50 to 500 employees |
How to set up your audience in Reachvite
Values for each tab of the extension:
- Industry: Your company’s (for talent) or your clients’ (if you consult).
- Job title: HR director, HR business partner, talent lead, payroll manager.
- Companies: Companies known for great people practices, or your target accounts.
- Where?: Your country; for talent, your offices’ city.
Reachvite always adds its own filters: real people with 500+ connections, and never 1st-degree connections or pending invitations.
How many invitations a week?
Two batches of 20 a week.
About 40 well-targeted invitations a week grow your network without taking over your day; adjust based on the acceptance you see in the results tab. LinkedIn doesn’t publish a fixed number: we explain it in the weekly invitation limit.
Example invitation notes
Notes are optional and capped at 300 characters.
- “Hi Alice, I lead people at a 300-person logistics company and share what we learn. Glad to connect with peers.”
- “Hi Peter, I help SMBs set up their first performance review process. I’d like to have you in my network.”
- “Hi Noelle, we’re growing our engineering team in Raleigh and share how we work. Happy to connect.”
What to post so people accept (and remember you)
- Policies you’ve tried and how they worked out.
- Useful templates: onboarding, interviews, reviews.
- Employment law news explained from practice.
Common mistakes
- Mixing goals: talent, peers and clients at once.
- Posting only job ads.
- Neglecting the candidate experience you show in public.

Then your audience is SMB general managers and people leaders who need support.
