LinkedIn for photographers: the channel for business commissions
On LinkedIn a photographer isn’t looking for weddings but for business work: team headshots, product photography, events and spaces. The people who hire for that sit in marketing, communications and HR. Invite them in your city and show business work with the context of the brief.
Who to invite on LinkedIn: a guide for photographers
Business photography is commissioned by marketing, communications or HR.
| If you work in… | Invite… | At… |
|---|---|---|
| Corporate headshots | HR, employer brand and communications leads | Consultancies, law firms, tech companies |
| Product and ecommerce | Ecommerce and marketing managers | Fashion, cosmetics, food |
| Events | Event and communications managers | Associations, conferences, large companies |
| Spaces | Hotel managers and real estate marketers | Hospitality and real estate |
How to set up your audience in Reachvite
Values for each tab of the extension:
- Industry: The industries that commission most in your city: professional services, ecommerce, hospitality.
- Job title: Marketing manager, communications manager, events manager, employer brand lead.
- Companies: Local companies that are hiring or opening offices (they need new headshots).
- Where?: Your city first; the work is in person.
Not sure where to start? People like me fills in job title, location and language from your profile.
How many invitations a week?
One or two batches of 20 a week.
The group that hires corporate photography in a city is limited. Twenty to 40 invitations a week cover it over the year without saturating it. This is our guidance, not a LinkedIn figure; Reachvite stops at the first warning.
Example invitation notes
Without Premium you can only add a note to 5 invitations a month, so save it for the people who matter most.
- “Hi Celia, I shoot corporate headshots in Denver, at your office, in one morning. Glad to connect.”
- “Hi Ruben, I photograph products for cosmetics stores and share my lighting tricks. I’d like to have you in my network.”
- “Hi Eve, I cover conferences and company events in Atlanta. Happy to connect.”
What to post so people accept (and remember you)
- Company shoots showing the before (phone photos) and the after.
- How to prepare a team for a headshot session.
- Behind the scenes of a product shoot.
Common mistakes
- Showing weddings or landscapes to a business audience.
- No city or type of work in your headline.
- Inviting other photographers instead of clients.
